Trikala Sandhyavandanam is a significant daily duty that involves worship during three specific times of the day—dawn, midday, and dusk. It is a form of purification and spiritual practice of the self for Hindu Brahmins. During each Sandhyavandanam, the worshiper offers prayers and chants mantras, seeking divine blessings and enlightenment. The worshiper sits facing east (at dawn), with the sun ovrehead at noon and facing the north and west at dusk. In the brahmins life, they have 3 debts throughout their lives - Debt to ancestors or pitrus, debt to Devatas and debt to Rishis. Trikala Sandhyavandanam addresses the Debts to Devatas. It is an extract of the Maha Narayana Upanishad and focuses on meditating upon the Gayatri Mantram with purification mantras using water before and mantras for the departure to her celestial abode after invocation.
