Karthigai Deepam is a significant festival celebrated in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu and by the Tamil diaspora around the world. It is also known as Karthikai Deepam. The festival is observed on the day of the full moon in the Tamil month of Karthigai, which usually falls in November or December. There are specific types of lamps made in the name of Karthigai Deepam to celebrate Lord Kathikeya/ Lord Muruga's birth.
