Introducing this stunning clay bommai doll of Sri Karumari Amman. Karumari Devi is the goddess who is believed to either prevent or provide relief from smallpox and chicken pox. She is a deity of significant importance, and is worshipped mainly in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Most villages, towns and cities around this state have a temple with a Neem tree, dedicated to this goddess.

Neem leaves, with their excellent healing properties and health benefits, are considered extremely auspicious to Karumari Amman. It is tradition to visit her temple after recovering from a pox. Devotees pour Amman's favourite salted 'moor' on the temple's neem tree, as an offering to the goddess.

This doll beautifully captures the features of Sri Karumari Amman in great detail. Made with utmost care and bhakti, this wonderful bommai is sure to enhance your Golu padi. Golu is a doll and figurine tradition, performed during the festival of Navaratri - a period of 9 days dedicated to the worship of the Goddess. It is a padi (set of steps) decorated with Bommais (dolls), of all shapes and sizes. Each doll represents a Hindu figure or a classic story.

With intricate detail and vibrant colours, this clay Bhairavar bommai doll is an important addition to your Navaratri Golu display.
